A restaurant where you can eat authentic Biryani, the fusion of curry and rice [Tokyo, Japan]
-Chicken Biryani 1,030 yen-
Although customers can choose one of three ingredients: chicken, lamb, and seasonal vegetables, I selected chicken this time.
Biryani with spices such as star anise and cardamom looks colorful and is photogenic.
In addition, three Biryani are all surprisingly fulfilling.
Dry rice absorbed spices goes well with tender chicken and fresh onion.
If you add raita (yogurt mixed with vegetables) in Biryani, you can enjoy a different flavor of it and that stimulates my appetite.
You will definitely be addicted to this taste once you have it.
Biryani is, so called, Indian seasoned rice cooked with various ingredients.
Biryani already became popular in Japan and the restaurants that offers Biryani has been increasing. This restaurant offers authentic Biryani without any original additions.
This is the restaurant’s most popular menu item and more than half of customers ordered it when I visited the restaurant.
A several layers of curry made with more than 30 kinds of spices and basmati rice with a pleasant flavor are slowly cooked on low heat. With a subtle adjustment, curry and rice will be merged.
Coriander-style curry set 1,030 yen
Deep green roux and chopped coriander are distinctive features of this curry.
The message “this is for customers who like spices” attracts me. So, I selected a coriander-style curry set with lamb after the Biryani.
The deep green roux included lumps of large lamb ribs.
On top of it was garnished with chopped fresh coriander. Its appearance considerably impressed me.
Curry with plenty of coriander and spinach had a rich but somehow gentle flavor.
Lamb ribs were soft and I could easily remove the bones.
This curry went perfectly well with basmati rice too.
3 kinds of curry lunch set 950 yen
You can choose three out of six curries including seafood, butter chicken, fresh shrimp. I was very satisfied with the quality of each curry.
The set comes with extra-large naan or saffron rice, salad, rasam (Indian soup), and a drink.
When I think of its quality and volume, this set is incredibly good value for the price.
The Indian restaurant I have introduced today is Halima Kebab Biryani, located in Ueno & Okachimachi area, one of the hottest curry spot.
You can enjoy authentic cuisine of north and south India and Pakistan here.
Chefs from each area display their talent and offer authentic taste of each area.
Although it is not located in a business area and is not easily accessible, this is definitely a must-visit restaurant for curry enthusiasts.
The restaurant offers lunch menu between 11:00 and 15:30. It provides the same lunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays.
Fresh and high quality spices used at the restaurant are purchased from both India and Japan.
A wide range of spices that are complicatedly mixed together will make a perfect balance of one curry flavor.
The restaurant has staff from India and provides a homelike, comfortable atmosphere.
