Uotake, a restaurant that I’ve accidentally found

I accidentally passed by the street in front of this restaurant near Tsukiji Market at lunch time.

I was attracted by the pleasant aroma of grilled fish so that I passed under the shop curtain.

I’ve never forgotten the chief Mr. Hayakawa’s generous voice “Irashaimase (Welcome)!” with a nice smile when entering the restaurant.

The restaurant is small and offers only counter-seats but it was full with local foodies.

No customer spoken at the restaurant and everybody focused on eating its set menu.

I was convinced that I could have a delicious lunch.

“Can I have teriyaki coho salmon set with tuna nakaochi (flesh on the spine of a tuna) and natto (fermented soy beans)”

I copied the order of a business man who looked a regular customer here.

A few minutes later, I got a teriyaki coho salmon and tuna nakaochi.

Both items are the most popular at the restaurant.

First, I devoured rice with the tuna and ate refilled rice with the coho salmon.

Thick salmon that was carefully charcoal-grilled went well with rice and I quickly finished eating it.

I added natto and put everything including nakaochi and salmon over a bowl of rice and finished eating it.

I couldn’t think of any restaurants that offer such perfect set menu.

When I told Mr. Hayakawa about this,

He was modest, saying that he didn’t do anything special and he added.

“But, I used to run a fish shop in Tsukiji so that I’m proud of sashimi and grilled fish that I served to customers.

I was very satisfied with my delicious lunch.

I was deeply impressed by it, and then left the restaurant.

I might be exaggerating a little, but I became positive and felt that I would do my best with my work today so the delicious lunch gave me a great power.

Uotaka is a generous restaurant in Tsukiji and provides energy to people who work at the fish market.
